Kumar v London Borough of Hillingdon [2020] EWHC 3326 (Admin)

Role of lawyer at mediation

Judicial review decision of local authority's refusal to allow parent to bring lawyer to mediation over her son's EHCP.  Local authority's view that presence of lawyer would be detrimental because it would turn an informal, non-legalistic process into an adversarial one.  Court's consideration of lawfulness of that position.  This decision is considered further by Henrietta Jackson-Stops in her blog here.
