If you’ve got a difficult mediation coming up, you’ll probably be thinking about what you might say in the joint session - and how best to say it. You may also be mulling over how to draft your client’s position paper for the day – what to include/deliberately leave out, and what’s the best tone to adopt.

Our mediators see and hear a lot of good (and bad!) advocacy in the many mediations they facilitate every week – at this informal webinar Chris Fitton and Charles Powell will share what they have seen which does and doesn’t work when it comes to advocacy in a mediation setting, and whether verbal or written.

So, whether you are needing to talk a defendant out of difficult fix, or are acting for claimants wanting to get good mediation outcomes, hearing what Chris and Charles have to say may be an hour well spent.

Specific areas we will cover:

  1. how to pitch your opening statement – lawyer advocacy

  2. what your client should say (and how they should say it) – client advocacy

  3. writing impactful Position Papers – written advocacy

  4. how best to communicate with the mediator – caucus advocacy

  5. ….plus any other issues/discussion points delegates want to raise on the day

This webinar will take place on Tuesday, 16th July 2024 at 12:30pm - 13:45pm GMT, online, through Zoom.
