Cogent and assured, this accomplished book by Pauline McRedmond is a well crafted and constructive contribution to discourse on the law on mediation in Ireland.
The book deftly navigates the background to, and provisions of, The Mediation Act 2017, while exploring other relevant terrain with equal aplomb (including, by way of examples, (i) other statutory mediation procedures and (ii) mediation and the European Union).
Ms McRedmond's style of writing is fluid and precise, which makes, to our way of thinking, for a winning combination.
Having test driven the table of cases, table of legislation and index, we found them very good: a definite plus, for those times when honing in on specifics is the order of the day.
The book also helpfully includes, as Appendices, the European Communities (Mediation) Regulations 2011 and the European Code of Conduct for Mediators.
Mediation works. So does this book.
Tim Bouchier-Hayes and Denise O'Connor are members of In Place Of Strife, The Mediation Chambers. Their thinking concurs on many subjects, including mediation.
