It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Sir Henry Brooke yesterday. Following his retirement from the Bench in 2006 Sir Henry practised as a civil mediator and was Chair of the Civil Mediation Council from 2007-2011. It was during this time that Mark Jackson-Stops, Head of Chambers and a fellow Board Member, worked with Sir Henry. Mark says: "In my time on the Board of the Civil Mediation Council, Sir Henry showed huge commitment to the development of mediation and played a major part in making mediation available and accessible to those whose only alternative is expensive litigation."
Sir Henry's achievements and influence went beyond mediation, covering a huge number of charitable and legal projects. His thoughtful wisdom and drive to challenge injustice and ensure the fair operation of the law will be long remembered but, are luckily for those he leaves behind, captured for ever herehttps://sirhenrybrooke.me. He will be much missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
